RI CME Requirements for Licensure

Practitioners must complete 40 hours of CME every 2 years.

The legal deadline for the renewal of physician licenses in Rhode Island is the first day of June in each even-numbered year. For example, June 1, 2020; June 1, 2022; June 1, 2024 … etc.

Of the 40 hours in the cycle, at least 4 hours must be devoted to any of the following:

  • Ethics
  • Risk Management
  • Opioid Pain Management / Chronic Pain Management
  • End of Life / Palliative Care and/or Antimicrobial Stewardship.
